A total of 120 two-person teams will fish in one or all four divisions — Lindner Media bass, Nor-Son pike, Full Throttle walleye and Nor-Son panfish. Or entrants could bring one of each to the scales and enter only the Sportech Mixed Bag division. Numerous prizes are up for grabs, including resort stays in the U.S. and Canada, rods and reels, tackle, Frabill ice shelters, MinnKota trolling motors and more.

The weigh-in begins at 2 p.m. June 2 on Cragun’s Resort beach, under the big tent. The weigh-in is fun and brings anglers together to enjoy the show as they bring their fish across the stage, share their tales, collect prizes and listen to the Teen Challenge choir.

Camp Ripley/Veterans

State Trail open house

The DNR invites anyone with an interest in the Camp Ripley/Veterans State Trail to attend an open house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 7 at the Morrison County Government Center, 213 1st Ave. S.E., Little Falls.

This is the third and final open house to be held during the master planning process for the trail. DNR staff, consultants, city, county and regional staff and trail supporters will discuss the draft master plan, display maps, potential trail alignments and other trail information and answer questions about the master planning process and the next steps.

A short presentation will be given at 7 p.m., with opportunities for informal discussion throughout the evening. Landowners, potential trail users and area residents are urged to attend.

The trail is envisioned as a multi-use system, accommodating a variety of motorized and non-motorized uses, linking the Soo Line Trail south of Little Falls to Crow Wing State Park and the Paul Bunyan State Trail. The trail also will link Camp Ripley and the cities of Pillager, Randolph, Baxter and Little Falls.

The draft master plan will be posted on the DNR website by Friday — see www.dnr.state.mn.us/input/mgmtplans/trails/camp_ripley_veterans.html. The required public review period will begin when the draft master plan is posted and will extend through the month of June.
