Dealing with buck fever

Oh dear. I think she understands but there is no way she totally understands. My wife puts up with a lot and I would have to say that, in general, most wives put up with a lot. Especially if you have a fanatical husband that really, really enjoys something. I love the outdoors and that will not go away. During deer season I can get a little out of control and I sometimes try and analyze why that is. They are just deer, right? Yeah, but they are such an awesome animal, I enjoy everything about them!

I just love to know what they are up to, especially during late October through Nov. 20 or so. This is the time when they are quite unpredictable in our neck of the woods and you just never know where or when you will see them.

I like big bucks, I cannot lie! I was able to watch a nice eight-pointer chasing a doe around the woods last Saturday but 70 yards was about as close as he would get. That experience was really neat and my “buck fix” was fixed for the time being.

I still have the fever and I am hoping to get a little closer to a little bit bigger buck, really soon (maybe tonight or maybe not). But I do know for sure, I am thankful that I have been able to experience so much about their behavior over the years.

P.S. I am 99 percent sure that Clyde has died.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, Walleyedan.
