DNR expects quick fix to wolf website glitch
Brainerd MN 506 James St. / PO Box 974 56401

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Department of Natural Resources says it expects to soon fix a problem with the website that tallies the number of wolves killed in the state's inaugural wolf season.

Hunters and trappers are required to check the site or a telephone hotline to see whether the quota has been reached and the season has been closed.

DNR spokesman Chris Niskanen tells the Star Tribune ( ) the glitch, which caused the numbers to stop updating properly, likely stemmed from the change in years. He says the vendor expects to have it fixed Wednesday. An erroneous phone message will also be corrected.

The northwest zone remains open. At least 170 wolves have been killed there, 17 short of the 187 allowed.

Wolf hunting opponents say the problem reinforces their concerns about the season.
