Jan. 13 Ice Fishing Report
With last weeks warm up behind us, we are back to the cold of winter.
Lake of the Woods continues to produce a good number of sauger with walleyes and perch being caught also. The resorts are out eight miles now in 34 feet.
Red Lake is still having a great bite in 14 feet with a bobber and fathead working well. Walleyes are still pretty hot on Round Lake on shiners. We have all the rentals on Gull Lake now with walleyes being caught in 18-30 feet on shiners and some nice pike in 13-18 feet with sucker minnows.
Margaret, South Long, Rice and Sylvan lakes are still putting out panfish on everything from waxies, crappie minnows and impulse tapeworms.
Mille Lacs Lake has a great big fish bite with many 24 inch-plus fish being caught on the edge of the mud flats. Resort, Three Mile and Sherman’s are some spots to check out. Be sure to call before heading out as some big cracks have been forming.
Also, we will be having a kids fishing day at Ernie’s on Gull on Feb. 16. I will post full details next week.
