Kyler and Kayden Windorski are living a dream life. They just don’t realize it yet.

An average winter day includes getting up for school at Baxter Elementary School and then, after their studies, a quick ride from their dad to the family fish house to try for sunfish and crappies. During the winter fishing season, the family travels to Lake of the Woods, Red Lake, Mille Lacs and several area lakes.

Being in the fish house does not mean that homework takes a back seat. Their parents have seen to that with 120 volt electricity provided. Their tablets charge just fine and the flat screen television brings them the news of the world and of course Nickelodeon. Meals are not a problem with a two-burner stove and a microwave oven for every type of food a child could want. Of course there is always the great sheet of lake ice for the boys to play on when the family spends weekends in the house.

For creature comforts, a thermostatically controlled heater keeps the inside space at a comfortable temperature along with track lighting.

When the family moves the house, there are holes to drill for fishing and of course positioning the satellite dish to catch the signal to bring them Dish Network. Other than a few fundamentals such as busting drifts to get out to the house, family time is quiet and cozy. Their 7 by 20 foot wood paneled fish house also doubles as a summer cabin.

So much for roughing it on the ice.
