WARRIOR BOYS HOCKEY: Spuds nip Warriors

MOORHEAD — Josh Archibald and Mason Fussy scored goals for the Brainerd Warriors in a 3-2 Section 8-2A loss to the Moorhead Spuds on Saturday.

It was just the second loss in eight games for Brainerd while Moorhead improved to 2-1-1.

Cody Rahman put the Spuds on top at 10:19 of the first.

Just 21 seconds into the second period, Eric Brenk put Moorhead in front 2-0. 

Archibald closed the gap to 2-1 at 10:03 of the second, assisted by Gaven Motschenbacher and Matt Pohlkamp.

Evan Cook scored the final Moorhead goal at 12:06. Brainerd’s Mason Fussy scored the game’s final goal, unassisted, 25 seconds later.

The Warriors outshot Moorhead 26-25. Jared Stearns made 22 saves for Brainerd.
