Warrior dance team wins

The Brainerd Warrior dance team took first place in the Central Lakes Conference jazz contest Friday at Jefferson High School in Alexandria. 

The Warriors’ routine “Bats” was first with all five judges.

Head coach Cindy Clough said, “Coaches feel the jazz team is on a mission and they keep exceeding our expectations. They really know they have a great routine and have trained hard for their technical abilities. This team wants to win and they are going after it in a big way.”

In jazz, Brainerd was first with 3 rank points; Sartell, second, 7; St. Cloud Tech, third, 8; Rocori, fourth, 13; Sauk Rapids, fifth, 14; St. Cloud Apollo, sixth, 18; Alexandria, seventh, 21; Willmar, eighth, 24; and Fergus Falls, ninth, 27.

The Brainerd junior varsity jazz team also took first place in its division, with Sartell second, St. Cloud Tech third and Rocori fourth.

After graduating high school in 2004, I attended Central Lakes College in Staples, MN for 2 years where I got a diploma in Communication Art and Design. I then transfered up to Bemidji State University in, you guessed it, Bemidji, MN. In the spring of 2009, I graduated from BSU. Then in the fall of 2009 I got a job at Echo Publishing, a sister company to the Brainerd Dispatch.
