Warriors play best game in loss

FERGUS FALLS — Led by Emilee Branum’s 24 points, the Brainerd Warriors played their best game of the season, but came up short in a 58-52 loss to Fergus Falls on Thursday.

Kayla Kraemer also finished in double figures with 14 points for the Warriors in a Central Lakes Conference game.

“We played very well,” said Brainerd coach Brian McAllister. “This was our first complete game of the year. Our post players all did a great job inside against a tall lineup.

“From start to finish it was our best game of the year. They played their hearts out and we couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

The Otters, ranked 10th in Class 3A, shot 45 percent from the floor. The Warriors shot 41 percent and were hurt at the 3-point line as they finished with a 3-15 night from behind the arc.

It was the Warriors’ third straight loss.
