BREEZY POINT - Kyler Decent recorded a hat trick as the Northern Lakes Lightning rode a four-goal first period to upend the Mid-State Conference leading Detroit Lakes Lakers 5-4 on Thursday.

Connor Chambers added a goal and two assists, while Blake Demars added a pair of assists for the Lightning.

Joey Bergquist turned away 49 of 53 shots in net for the Lightning.

PEQUOT LAKES - Kylie Beltz scored 31 points Thursday to lead Class 2A's 10th-ranked Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 67-53 victory over the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks and to surpass 1,000 career points.

Beltz drained four 3-pointers and added five steals and five assists for Pequot, who rebounded from their first loss of the season Tuesday.

Emily Lueck finished with 25 points for Pequot, which hit on 28-of-33 (85 percent) of its free throws.

Beltz became the 13th Patriots girl to reach 1,000 career points.
