ONAMIA — Melissa Paulson scored 14 points, but none more important than a 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation during the Aitkin Gobblers’ 46-44 overtime win against the Onamia Panthers during Great River Conference play Tuesday.

Cassie Sandberg scored a team-high 15 points and Madison Newton added 11 points, including three 3’s, as Aitkin snapped  its six-game losing streak.

DEER RIVER — Jana Anderson totaled 15 points to lead the Crosby-Ironton Rangers past Deer River 60-37 in non-conference action Tuesday.

Chelsey Bonsante finished with 14 points, Missy Foote grabbed 10 rebounds and Shannon Lundgren collected six steals.

BAXTER — Autumn Martin tallied a career-high 14 points to go with 11 rebounds and Bethany Cressman returned from an illness to record 12 points and eight rebounds during the Lake Region Christian Hornets 53-30 win over Maplewood Academy Tuesday.

Emily Beltran dished out 11 assists top go with eight points and Kelsey Grider added 11 rebounds and seven points.

PINE RIVER — Tatum Sheley led all scorers with 18 points as the Pine River-Backus Tigers ran away from the Park Rapids Panthers 80-45 during Tuesday’s non-conference mauling.

Hannah Lemberg added 13 points for the Tigers and eighth grader Megan Felthaus scored 12 in her second game at the varsity level. 

Katie Wangberg tallied six steals for the Tigers for their 10th consecutive win.

BERTHA — The Staples-Motley Cardinals moved back above .500 with a 64-56 victory over Bertha-Hewitt Tuesday behind 14 points from Abby Smith.

Kelsey Rice finished with 13 points and Mikayla Wing added 11 for the Cardinals as they won for the fifth time in six tries.

HOLDINGFORD — The Pierz Pioneers had a reversal of fortune in their Central Minnesota Conference rematch with the Holdingford Huskers Tuesday.

After defeating the Huskers by 24 at Pierz earlier in the season, the Pioneers were upset 66-55 at Holdingford. 

Lindsay Monson led the Pioneers with 18 points and Cassandra Banick added 12.
