LOCAL SPORTS SHORTS: Lyscio sets St. Scholastica track record
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Brainerd High School graduate Tom Lyscio set a College of St. Scholastica men’s track and field program record in the Border Battle, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday.
Lyscio’s weight throw record was a toss of 53-6.5.
In the women’s meet, Crosby-Ironton High School graduate Stacey Gustafson of Merrifield won the 1,000-meter run in 3:17.59.
The 4x400-meter team, which included BHS graduate Katherine Mueller, won with a time of 4:15.29.
The Saints will compete in the Burns Wellness Center Fieldhouse next weekend for the Lake Superior Challenge. Action begins Friday with the pentathlon at 6 p.m. Saturday’s field events begin at 11 a.m. and running events at noon.
Grausam, Houle honored
Madison Grausam of Brainerd and Alex Houle of Little Falls were named Central Lakes Conference Performers of the Week ending Feb. 5.
In gymnastics, Grausam won the balance beam and placed third in all-around against St. Cloud Tech.
In boys Nordic skiing, Houle placed in the top 10 at the CLC meet, helping the Flyers tie for first.
