WRESTLING: Pierz pins loss on Gobblers


PIERZ — Clint Poster improved to a perfect 32-0 with a pin over Aaron Benson at 140 pounds to lead the Pierz Pioneers to a 46-21 victory over Section 7-1A opponent Aitkin in the regular season dual finale for both teams Tuesday. 


Brett Brausen upped his record to 26-8 with a victory by fall over Adam Jackson at 125. 

Jerod Novak and Dustin Waytashek scored victories by pin for the Gobblers.

STAPLES — Five Cardinals grapplers won by pin with Chandler Trout registering the quickest in 41 seconds as Staples-Motley defeated Pelican Rapids 54-16 for their 15th dual win of the season Tuesday.

Also winning by pins were Blake Miller, Gavin Kadlec, Blake Petrich and Cody Drone.

COKATO — Connor Scherping and Dillon Kifer each gained victories by pin to lead the Little Falls Flyers to a 37-36 win over Dassel-Cokato in a Section 6-2A dual meet Tuesday. 

Kifer’s pin gave the Flyers a 23-9 lead which they did not surrender for the rest of the match. Justin Jenks and Dilan Gastecki also pinned their opponents.
