Walters breaks record; BHS boys, girls 2nd

ST. CLOUD — Jackson Walters won the high jump and set a school record with his second-place time of 8.7 in the 60-meter hurdles helping the Brainerd Warriors boys to second place Saturday in the Central Lakes Conference indoor championships.

The Brainerd girls also finished second. Chloe Miller won the 60 hurdles with a 10.29 and Sydnie Mauch tossed the shot 40-foot-3 for first. Both landed on the Brainerd honor roll.

Megan Holmes finished second in the 800 and was third in the 1600 runs. Hannah Lundstrom placed second in the 200 and third in the 100 dashes.

Lundstrom’s time of 8.4 landed her on the honor roll as did Courtney Ryan’s seventh-place time of 8.53.

Brainerd’s Nate Parsons captured the triple jump and the Warriors’ 4x100 relay of Jordany Hayes, Daniel Lauer, Jack Luke and Joe Nelson also won with a time of 45.22.

Hayes finished second in the 60 dash. Lauer was second in the 200 dash and Jacob Kassulker finished second in the shot put. Garret Heath’s 10.03 in the hurdles was an honor roll performance as was Grant Reuer’s and Luke’s in the 60 dash.

The Little Falls girls team finished fourth behind Manon Gammon-Deering’s winning time of 11:42.84 in the 3200 run. Rachelle LeBlanc won the pole vault with a 10-6 effort and the 4x800 relay finished first.

The Flyer boys placed eighth and were led by its first-place 4x800 relay team. Elliot Kohler placed second in the long jump.
