COLLEGE SOFTBALL CLC splits with Rainy River

INTERNATIONAL FALLS — Sam Harting pitched a 6-hitter and Alicia Johnson collected three hits as the Central Lakes College Raiders defeated Rainy River 11-2 in the first game of a Northern Division doubleheader Wednesday.

Harting struck out two and walked three. Dani Thiesse tripled and Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles.

“It was a great game, we played really well,” CLC coach Greg Medeck said. “We were inspired. We hit the ball hard. We had some nice, productive innings. It was one of our better games of the year.”

The Raiders lost Game Two 8-5 as Harting struck out four and walked three. Steph Neugebauer was 2-for-3 with a triple and Trisha Wippler was 3-3.

“We got down early and couldn’t catch up,” Medeck said. “Our bats went quiet, and we made too many errors.”
