SOFTBALL: Anderson perfect Warriors are, too

ST. CLOUD — Nikki Anderson improved her record to 3-0 by way of a perfect game as she shutdown the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles for a 10-0 five-inning Brainerd Warriors victory Tuesday.

The Central Lakes Conference softball player of the week struck out eight of the 15 batters she faced.

She now has 34 strikeouts on the season along with four walks and two hit batters. She’s allowed just one hit in 17 innings pitched.

It’s also the third-straight game the Warriors have scored 10 or more runs as senior Karlie Manton went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Senior Krista Bjork finished 2-2. Senior Ali Beadle went 2-3 with two doubles and senior Ashley Tibbetts was 2-4 with two runs driven in for the 3-0 Warriors. Brainerd collected 11 hits total and didn’t commit an error.

Brainerd has outscored its three opponents 34-0 and will travel to Alexandria, which the Warriors defeated 10-0 to open the season, Thursday.

The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity team also improved to 3-0 with a six-inning 11-1 victory over Apollo.
