BASEBALL: BHS grads contribute at Superior
Brainerd High School graduates Rhett Williamson, Robbie Veith, Thomas Fairbanks and Ethan Branum are making an impact for the University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball team this spring.
In a 6-5 win over LaCrosse, Williamson went 3-for-5, scored twice and had an RBI while Veith had two hits. Branum started and pitched four innings, giving five runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out three but was tagged with the loss.
In a 10-6 win over LaCrosse, Williamson had two hits, including a two-run homer, his first of the season. He finished 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.
In a 4-3 loss to Platteville, Fairbanks had an RBI single.
Through 19 games, Williamson was hitting .354 with 12 runs, five doubles, six RBIs. Veith was batting .250 with 14 runs, and four RBIs. Fairbanks was batting .234 with 14 runs, four doubles, a home run and nine RBIs.
Branum was 0-4 with a 7.46 ERA in 25.1 innings. He had struck out 12 and walked five.
Superior, 1-5 in conference play, 5-14 overall, hosts Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday.
