BASKETBALL: Pequot’s Moody signs with UMD

Pequot Lakes High School standout Kurtis Moody has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball for the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2011-12.

Moody, a 6-3, 210-pound guard, averaged 22 points, nine rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Patriots this past season on his way to being named the Mid-State Conference most valuable player.

A three-time All-Mid State Conference selection, Moody finished his career as the second-leading scorer in Pequot Lakes history. He helped lead the Patriots to a 24-5 overall record in 2010-11.

Earlier this month, Moody played in the Minnesota State Boys Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Series.

"Kurt is a competitor who will develop into a great defender," UMD head coach Gary Holquist said in a news release. "He can create on the bounce for an effective mid-range offensive game.”
