AREA BASEBALL: Provost drives in winning Aitkin run

AITKIN — Seth Provost doubled in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run in the Aitkin Gobblers’ 9-8 victory over Great River Conference foe Isle on Thursday.

Provost finished 2-4 with three RBIs. Nathan Ehnstrom and Jordan Chouanard also had two hits for the Gobblers.

LITTLE FALLS — Spenser Fenske sent a two-run shot over the fence, but eight errors were the undoing of the Little Falls Flyers in a 7-6 loss to the Alexandria Cardinals in Thursday’s Central Lakes Conference clash.

Joey Hanowski, Bob Munnell and Mitch Dorn each collected doubles for the Flyers.

“We hit the ball very well,” Flyers coach John Hanowski said, “but we have to field the ball better if we want to play as well as we can.”

STAPLES — Henrique Matsuda hit a two-run double for the Staples-Motley Cardinals in a 10-3 non-conference loss to Ottertail Central Thursday.

Alek Paskewitz had an RBI single and Austin Redemske and Tyler O’Brien accounted for S-M’s other two hits.
