AREA BOYS TENNIS Cards win Mid-State

PARK RAPIDS — Antoine Moumal, Austin Hirschey and two doubles teams earned first place as the Staples-Motley Cardinals came out on top of Thursday’s Mid-State Conference tournament.

Moumal (3-0) and Hirschey (2-0) were joined as champions by the doubles teams of Josh Soloway-Shane Suess (3-0) and Grant Longbella-Dale Vogt (2-0).

Aitkin 6, Eveleth-Gilbert 1

AITKIN — Jack Reeves outlasted his No. 3 singles counterpart to pull out a super-tie breaker win as the Aitkin Gobblers defeated the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears 6-1 during a non-conference match Thursday.

“He just outlasted his opponent and had a little more determination at the end,” said Aitkin head coach Joe Walz. “His game kept improving as the game went on.”

After graduating high school in 2004, I attended Central Lakes College in Staples, MN for 2 years where I got a diploma in Communication Art and Design. I then transfered up to Bemidji State University in, you guessed it, Bemidji, MN. In the spring of 2009, I graduated from BSU.
