Wittwer, Jenkins homers lift Nisswa

ST. JOSEPH — Tyler Wittwer and Aaron Jenkins hit home runs for the Nisswa Lightning in their 11-10 win over the St. Jospeh Saints Friday.

Jenkins finished 3-4 with a pair of RBIs. Wittwer added a double going 2-4 and drove in three runs.

Also hitting doubles for the Lightning were Drew Boland, Adam Hardy and Morgan Shepherd. Boland and Shepherd each had two hits as did Brett Jenkins.

PIERZ — The Pierz Brewers improved to 1-1 and kept the Pierz Bulldogs winless with Sunday’s 9-2 East Division victory.

Fort Ripley 4, Lastrup 3   (10 innings)

FORT RIPLEY — The Fort Ripley Rebels opened the season with some excitment as they outlasted the Lastrup Lakers Sunday for a 4-3 10-inning victory.

The Rebels moved to 1-0 and are a half game back of Nisswa (2-0).

Lastrup falls into a four-way tie with the Pierz Brewers, Harding Dinosaurs and Buckman Billygoats for first in the East Division.

HARDING — Buckman held the Harding Dinosaurs to just two hits as it escaped with a 1-0 road win Sunday.

Nisswa 11, St. Mathias 6

NISSWA — The Nisswa Lightning improved to 2-0 Sunday with an 11-6 North Division victory over St. Mathias.

The win hands the Lighting a half-game lead in the North, while keeping St. Mathias winnless on the young season at 0-2.
