AREA BASEBALL: Dally blanks C-I 2-0

CROSBY — Dan Dally fanned 10 batters, issued one walk, and allowed just one hit in a 2-0 shutout performance and an Aitkin Gobblers’ win over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in Thursday’s non-conference game.

Nathan Enhnstrom finished 2-2 with a double for the Gobblers.

LITTLE FALLS — Matt Valentine blasted a three-run home run in the first inning, but Little Falls could do little after that in a 5-3 loss to Fergus Falls in Thursday’s Central Lakes Conference game. 

The Flyers managed just two hits the rest of the way, a double by Josh Wenzel and a single by Mitch Dorn.

PEQUOT LAKES — Jacob Box went 2-3 with a solo home run, but the Pequot Lakes Patriots let a late one-run lead slip away in Thursday’s 12-9 non-conference loss to the Sebeka Trojans.

Bryan Yackley and Michael VanKleeck added doubles for the Patriots while Cole Humphrey and Gavin Bickford each collected two hits.

The Trojan’s Reid Radetzke smashed a fourth-inning grand slam.

Pierz sweeps Rockford

PIERZ — The Pierz Pioneers swept a pair of games from Rockford in a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader Thursday.

The Pioneers cruised to an 11-1 victory in Game One with Ben Boser collecting four hits and two RBIs. Dylan Kummet, Logan Meyer, Clint Poster and Brad Trapp had two hits apiece.

  Clint Poster singled to score the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning in Game Two. Meyer had two doubles and four RBIs for the Pioneers.

BROWERVILLE — Cole Hunstad was 2-2 and drove in three runs as the Pillager Huskies held off a Browerville Tigers rally for a 6-5 non-conference win Thursday.

Conner Uselman picked up the win for the Huskies who jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

B-H/Verndale 9, 

Staples-Motley 7

STAPLES — The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders received doubles from Jared Hoemberg and Dustin Motschenbacher in a 9-7 win over the Staples-Motley Cardinals in a non-conference game Thursday.

Hoemberg and Motschenbacher each finished with two hits as did Austin Selvey, Cody Yungbauer and Dallas Ehrmantraut.

The Cards were led by Alex Paskewitz, who was 2-4 with a run scored and RBI. Austin Redemske tripled, had two RBIs and three runs scored and Tyler O’Brien was 1-1 with a double.
