LOCAL SHORTS: Warriors, Pillager in True Team state meet


Brainerd Warriors boys and girls teams and the Pillager Huskies boys team will compete in the state True Team track and field meet this weekend at Stillwater High School.


Brainerd will compete in the Class 3A meet beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. 

Pillager will compete in the 1A meet, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Freshmen softball splits

The Brainerd freshmen softball team split a doubleheader at Sartell Tuesday. 

In an 8-4 win, Maria West was 3-3 with two triples. Madi Franz and Sara Wennerstrand each added two hits. 

In a 4-3 loss, Kelsey Boyd struck out nine. Jenny Hendrickson had two hits, and Ashley Olson, Karlie Dwire and Tessa Gilson scored runs.
