HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Warriors finish perfect season

MOORHEAD — For the first in program history, the Brainerd Warriors finished the regular season 17-0 as they swept Friday’s non-conference doubleheader with the Moorhead Spuds 10-4 and 12-0.

The sweep assured Class 3A’s eighth-ranked Warriors of home-field advantage throughout the Section 8-3A playoffs.

Nikki Anderson struck out four and walked one in three no-hit innings of Game One. Karlie Manton relieved her and struck out five over four innings. She did allow four runs on five hits.

Offensively, Ali Beadle ripped a home run, her third of the season, and a double to finish 3-5. Ashley Tibbetts was 3-5 and Carlie Sweet finished 3-4 with a triple and a double.

Anderson pitched all five innings of Game Two. She struck out 10 and walked none.

Jenni Smolke finished 305 with a home run and a double. Sweet was 3-3 with a home run and Tibbetts added another homer.

The Brainerd JV squad also finished strong defeating the Spuds 11-1 and 10-0 to end their season 15-2.
