TRACK and FIELD: Brainerd’s Murrey, Flyers Kohler advance


DETROIT LAKES — Joshua Murrey claimed second place in the pole vault at Wednesday’s Section 8-2A meet with a height of 12-foot-11 to punch his ticket to the Class 2A state meet.


Elliot Kohler of Little Falls also advanced in the long jump with his 21-3.25 effort to finish second.

Jackson Dols vaulted into the Brainerd honor roll with his fourth-place 12-5 in the pole vault. Miles Pearson finished seventh.

Brainerd’s Jacob Kassulker placed fifth in the pole vault followed by Charles Kassulker in eighth. Nate Parsons was eighth in the long jump.

The Flyers’ Emily Stark just missed state with a third-place 111-0 in the discus. Brainerd’s Rachel Bartosh was fourth followed by Amber Hines (Little Falls) in fifth and Sydnie Mauch (Brainerd) in eighth.

Manon Gammon-Deering of Little Falls finished fourth in the 3200.

The remaining finals for Section 8-2A will be Friday in St. Cloud.
