AMATEUR BASEBALL: Bees fall to Freeport

FREEPORT — The Brainerd Bees left 12 runners on base as they lost to the Freeport Black Sox 4-1 in a Lakewood League game Sunday.

Nate Smolke was 2-4 with an RBI, Tim Martin finished 2-4 and Joel Martin doubled for the Bees.

Joel Martin pitched seven innings, allowing one hit and four unearned runs. He struck out five and walked three.

Tim Martin pitched one inning. He struck out one and gave up two hits.

The Bees have rescheduled postponed games against Clear Lake (6:15 p.m. July 6 at Clear Lake) and against Granite City (7 p.m. July 18 at St. Cloud).
