AREA BASEBALL: Eckman helps Flyers stay alive


ST. CLOUD — Collin Eckman went 4-for-4 to help the Little Falls Flyers outlast Melrose 12-9 in a Section 6-2A losers bracket game Monday at Putz Field.


Eckman, a sophomore and the Flyers’ No. 9 hitter, ripped two triples and drove in three runs.

Mitch Dorn and Spencer Fenske were both 2-4 for the Flyers, who improved to 16-8 with their sixth win in the last seven games. 

Aaron Hallberg came on in relief to get the win. In 3.2 innings pitched, he allowed four hits and four runs (1 earned) with one strikeout.
