GOLF: Bell, Frentzos qualify for MGA Amateur

Robert Bell of Pierz and former Central Lakes College golfer Theo Frentzos will advance to the MGA Amateur after qualifying Thursday at Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids.

Bell shot 71 and tied for first with Mack Traynor IV of Golden Eagle Golf Club and Charlie Braniff of Territory Golf Club. Frentzos carded a 78 to tie for 10th.

Tyler Monda of Madden’s, who shot 78 and tied for 10th, will be the first alternate. Sean Halverson of Cragun’s Legacy Courses shot 79, tied for 16th and will be the third alternate.

Failing to qualify were Nick Forsberg of the Vintage at Staples (81) and Brandon Myers, also of the Vintage, with an 82.

The MGA Amateur Championship is scheduled July 18-20 at White Bear Yacht Club.
