NORTHWOODS LEAGUE Lunkers win but lose bid for title

THUNDER BAY — The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers scored single runs in the first, fourth, sixth, and eighth innings to defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 4-1 in Northwoods League action on Monday.

Kye Winter pitched eight innings, giving up just one run on five hits. Chase Webb came on in the ninth inning to get the save.

Offensively, Nick Hamilton collected two hits, with a double and also had an RBI. Andrew Letourneau and Wade Wass also had doubles for Brainerd.  

With the Mankato MoonDogs 8-3 victory over St. Cloud, the Lunkers were knocked out of contention in the race for the championship for the first half of the season.
