Michael Hoge of Crosby-Ironton and Ben Birch of Wadena-Deer Creek are among 78 players scheduled to attend Minnesota Basketball News Top 100 Boys Expo Showcase Thursday and Friday at the Whitney Rec Center in St. Cloud (1529 Northway Drive).

Players will play four games while being evaluated by MBN staff and college coaches.

Games will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday and end with the championship at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Little Falls’ Stumpf

invited to goalie camp

Mike Stumpf of Little Falls is one of 50 of the state's top high school goalies invited to participate in the Minnesota Hockey Dave Peterson Reebok High Performance Goalie Camp Thursday through Sunday at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine.

The program is designed to improve the individual skills and techniques of goalies ages 15 to 17.

Goalies are invited to participate based on their performance in USA Hockey/Minnesota Hockey High Performance Festivals.

Area teams in Pacesetter

basketball tournament 

Four lakes area teams will play in the Pacesetter Varsity Minnesota Invitational Tournament this weekend.

The 36 boys teams include Crosby-Ironton, Pequot Lakes and Pierz. Crosby-Ironton will be one of 31 girls teams.

Teams will play 3-4 games Saturday in four regional tournaments. Teams will then play two full games Sunday in Final Four-style brackets. Each team will compete against the other three with the same ranking from Saturday's regional tournament.

Games will be at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, the Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud and at Halenbeck Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University.
