GIRLS TENNIS: Aitkin wins fifth straight

PINE CITY — The Aitkin Gobblers captured Thursday’s Two River Conference championship for the fifth straight year by grabbing four all-conference spots.

Aitkin’s Anna Browning and Tori Sundholm tied for the singles championship with 3-0 records. They chose not to play against each other. Kristin Salmonson finished 2-2 for honorable mention honors.

The Gobblers’ team of Amanda Kurtz-Claire Browning went 3-0 to win the doubles title. Emily Lundgren-Lisa Anderson finished third and Malinda Lahmann-Sharbonda and Amy Chalich went 3-2 for honorable mention honors.

Pierz finished second as a team and were led by Lisa Langer-Amanda Nordmann’s second-place finish in the doubles category. Abby Bujalski-Sara Schlegel finished fourth.
