VOLLEYBALL: Warriors outlast Tech Tigers

The Brainerd Warriors rebounded from their first Central Lakes Conference loss Tuesday with a 3-2 win over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Thursday at Brainerd High School.

Sydnie Mauch finished with 19 kills and was followed by Courtney Ryan with 11 kills to lead the Warriors attack. Hannah Kangas finished with 25 set assists.

Defensively, Brainerd was led by Sarah Miller with 18 digs, and Mauch’s 5.5 blocks. Jenna Degen posted eight ace serves.

“It was a game of serve and receive,” said Brainerd head coach Jared Diem. “We had big spells of not being able to get the pass to a setter. Jenna Degen had five aces in one set which might be a record. Five games are tough and there a lot of volleys. They didn’t lose their composure and I was pleased with the win.”
