CROSS COUNTRY: Warrior girls win Albany meet

ALBANY — Michaela Quast finished third and the Brainerd Warrior girls secured their second victory of the season by winning Thursday’s Albany Invite.

Quast finished 4,000 meters in 16:12, 11 seconds behind first-place Madi Sachs of Albany. Maria West, Sarah Yeh, Lydia Herath and Abby Selisker also finished in the top 10 for Brainerd.

The Warrior girls’ other win was Sept. 9 at the Bemidji Invite.

Brainerd’s Riley Nelsen was fourth in the boys race as the Warriors finished second. Gerrit Garberich was sixth and Justin Warling 10th for the Warriors.

Pierz’s girls team was fourth, led by Maggie Gruber in 10th place. The Pioneer boys team was fifth, paced by Kyle Becker in 14th place.
