FOOTBALL: Pirates smack down Hancock

VERNDALE — Dillon Card ran for three touchdowns and threw for one as the Verndale Pirates defeated Hancock 36-14 in a rare Tuesday Pheasant Conference football game.

Card scored on runs of 8, 7, and 9 yards. He was threw for 207 yards. Dallas Ehrmantraut caught a 7-yard pass from Card in the first quarter to open the scoring with Colton Moyer rushing in from two yards out for a 16-0 Pirates’ edge.

Verndale’s defense was also stout as they allowed just 193 yards of total offense, including 33 yards on 13 attempts on the ground.

The Pirates totaled 450 yards of total offense with 243 yards coming through the running game. Moyer tallied 100 yards on 19 carries while Andy Bounds rushed 13 times for 89 yards. Card completed 13 passes for 207 yards.
