GIRLS SOCCER: Warriors down powerhouse Sartell

SARTELL — Jenny Hendrickson scored the first goal and Maddie Hastings scored the eventual game winner as the Brainerd Warriors beat the Central Lakes Conference leading Sartell Sabres 2-1 Tuesday.

“We came to play strong, fast and smart tonight and we outplayed them,” said Brainerd coach Ricky Lacerte. “We played 10 players to their 11 for the last 30 minutes, but our defense still controlled their offense. We controlled midfield and won the game.”

The Warriors’ win broke a three-game losing streak.

Tori Saxum made 21 saves and Emma Whiteman assisted on Hendrickson’s goal.
