LOCAL SHORTS: CLC’s Widman player of week

Melissa Widman of Central Lakes College was named the MCAC Northern Division All-Around Player of the Week ending Oct. 1.

The sophomore from Blaine led the Raiders (10-8, 5-2) to four straight match wins. She tallied 45 kills (2.8/game) and a .330 attack percentage on offense while adding 55 digs (5.5/gm) to spark the defense.

The Southern Division Hitter of the Week was Christine Moenkedick of Minnesota State Fergus Falls. The freshman from Wadena led the Spartans (9-10, 5-4) to wins in two of three matches last week with 2.5 kills/gm and a .290 hit percentage. She matched her kill total with digs and also served 100 percent (48 for 48).

Pequot winter sports 

registration Oct. 17

Pequot Lakes athletics will have a winter sign up night for dance and girls hockey participants Oct. 17.  

Parents and athletes should meet in the gym at 6 p.m. for a large group meeting. Athletes will turn in paperwork and pay fees after the meeting, then meet in their respective groups.
