Virginia ends Pierz’s season

VIRGINIA — North Subsection 7-1A champion Virginia blanked the South No. 2 Pierz Pioneers 7-0 in the semifinals of the section team tournament Monday.

Virginia went on to beat Foley 4-3 for the section title. Foley beat Eveleth-Gilbert 4-2 to reach the finals.

Pierz’s Tarynn Kasper will play in the section individual tournament Tuesday at Virginia.

Overall: Prz finishes 9-9. Next: Pierz’s Tarynn Kasper in 7-1A individual tournament 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Virginia.
