Baird, Andres top male, female finishers in Spooktacular 5K

Owen Baird was the overall winner and Baird and Michelle Andres were the top male and female finishers in Saturday’s first Brainerd Public Schools Foundation Family Spooktacular 5K Halloween Run/Walk at Northland Arboretum.

Nearly 100 runners and walkers came to run the rigorous wooded trail, many decked in costumes. Baird’s winning time was 18:36. Andres finished in 20:23.

Costume contest winners were Ladies from the 80s (Kaylo Brooks and Sasha Barsness), the Kitchen Witches (Rose Anderson, Jeanne Simmonds, Karen Kruger, Cindy Koons, Linda Anderson and Shirley Malherek), and Convicts (Logan, Taylor and Connor Pratt).

Proceeds from the race will support the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation.

Race sponsors included Blackridge Bank, Raboin Law Firm, Inez Natureway Foods, Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union, McDonald’s, Associates in Eyecare, the Brainerd Jaycees, the Last Turn Eatery, Bernick’s,, Minnesota T’s and Northland Arboretum.

Race coordinators were Angie Nelson, Todd Vanek and Sean Kaneski.
