Watson to be inducted into hockey hall of fame

Baxter resident Chuck Watson, former coach at Moorhead High School, is one of four people who will be inducted into the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March.

Entering the hall with Watson are Harry Brown (Minneapolis), Cary Eades (Warroad) and Keith Schafer (Wayzata).

Others who will be honored:

Bart Larson, Cliff Thompson Award; Bill Kronschnabel, Oscar Almquist Award; Dave Esse, Dave Peterson Award; and Bob Rajanen, Bruce Johnson Award.

Inductions and award presentations will take place at the association’s annual banquet during the state boys’ hockey tournament.

Inside the Warriors meet Thursday at Bonanza

The weekly Inside the Warriors luncheon, hosted by the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club, is scheduled Thursday at Bonanza.

Lunch costs $10, begins at noon and will be served until everyone has eaten. This week’s program, which begins at 12:15 p.m., will be coach Dan Anderson and the girls swimming and diving team.

Warrior Athlete of the Week Logan McAllister will be honored along with tennis players Mikinzee Salo and Kayla Kraemer, who were athletes of the week Oct. 20.

Luncheons are open to everyone. Participants do not have to be a boosters member. Feel free to attend for lunch or just for the program.
