Weisz, Flyer relay advance to state

MORRIS — Whitney Weisz set the Section 6-1A and pool record in the 50-yard freestyle at Saturday’s section meet.

The Little Falls Flyers senior swam a 23.20 to top second-place Tarin Anding of Sartell by almost a second.

The perennial state qualifier wasn’t done as she set a section and pool record in the 100 free. This time, Weisz beat Melrose’s Amanda Warzecha by more than two seconds with her 51.05.

Weisz also anchored the state qualifying 200 freestyle relay team of Diana Kempenich, Kenzie Hanson, Josie Lange and Weisz. The Flyers’ foursome qualified by state standard with a time of 1:43.10. Sartell won the race with a pool record of 1:37.76.

The state standard was 1:43.21.
