WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Ross’ 21 leads Raiders in loss

GRAND RAPIDS — Lindsey Ross posted 21 points, but the Itasca Vikings rallied for a 58-55 non-division victory over the Central Lakes College Raiders Tuesday.

Nikki Pearson collected 10 points and eight rebounds for the Raiders, who held a 26-25 halftime advantage and shot 9-of-10 from the foul line, but couldn’t put Itasca away.

“It was a tight one,” said Raiders head coach Bruce Eastman. “We were ahead at halftime and we’re doing the same thing we did the other night. We were ahead by as many as seven points and then we let them come back. We relaxed enough to let them back in it. The difference tonight was we kept fighting.

“We had a chance with 10 seconds left. We brought the ball up the court and got off a nice 3-point shot. It just didn’t go in.”

Elizabeth Mattson scored 10 points and Jalynn Lamb added six for the 0-2 Raiders.
