Lueck leads Pequot past Pierz in opener

PEQUOT LAKES — Mattie Lueck turned in a triple-double in leading Pequot Lakes to a 90-72 win over the Pierz Pioneers in the season opener for the Patriots Thursday.

Lueck finished with 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.

Also hitting double figures for the Patriots were Kayla Miller with 18, Jessica Kreitz with 13 and Megan Hogen 11. Katie White contributed 10 assists and six points.

Pierz was led by Alyssa Boser’s 20 points followed by Elizabeth Tomal and Lindsay Monson with 12 each and Lisa Langer added 10.

Melissa Moenkedick also tallied 15 points along with Caitlin Volkmann for W-DC. Emily Miron had a big game inside the paint for the Wolverines, finishing with 10 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and knocking away seven blocked shots. She also kicked out seven assists.
