McLain's five points lead Warriors past Bison
BUFFALO — Mitch McLain scored four goals and assisted on a fifth to the lead the Brainerd Warriors to their second straight win, 6-2, over the Buffalo Bison in a non-conference game Thursday night.
Also scoring goals for Brainerd were Logan Rivard and Cole Smith.
Matt Pohlkamp, Aaron Rich and Gaven Motschenbacher had two assists each.
McLain scored three of his goals in the first period, which was dominated by the Warriors, who led 5-1 at the break.
Brainerd goalie Jared Stearns turned away 19 of 21 shots by Buffalo.
The Warriors held a 36-21 shots on goal advantage, connecting on five of 16 attempts in the first, sending Bison starting goalie Tim Harkess to an early exit. Blake Schmidt replaced him, turning aside 13 of 14 shots in the final two stanzas.
