DEER RIVER —Caleb Baker led all scorers with 33 points as the Crosby-Ironton Rangers defeated the Deer River Warriors 75-69 in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Michael Hoge added 13 points while Hudrlik and Hoge pulled down eight rebounds apiece for the Rangers, who improved to 6-3 overall.

HOLDINGFORD — Fourteen players scored for Pierz as the Pioneers opened their Central Minnesota Conference season with an 84-46 win over the Holdingford Huskers Tuesday night.

Preston Weber led all scorers with 20 points while Caleb Janson contributed 18 and Mitch Bednar and Logan Meyer each added 10.

During the holidays, Janson broke the Pierz career rebound record of 743 set by Shane Poepping in 1991. He added 15 more against the Huskers, bringing his total to 764.

Ej Ziegler scored 18 and Cole Hunstad 17 for the Huskies, who stay perfect at 2-0 in conference action, and improve to 6-1 overall.

WADENA — Ryan Redfield and Evan VanErp combined for 51 points to lead the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines past the Verndale Pirates 80-62 in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Redfield nailed seven shots from three-point range and finished with 26 points and VanErp added 25.

Ben Birch tallied 17 points along with 13 rebounds for the Wolverines, who outboarded the Pirates 32-18.

Verndale was led by Aaron Denny’s 16 points while Dallas Ehrmantraut contributed 14 and Marcus Gomez 11.
