Alpine Skiing: Williams, Warrior girls win St. Cloud quad meet

KIMBALL — Mara Williams earned her first win of the season with a time of 54.36, and she was followed by Alex Stone and Ashley Fitterer as the Brainerd Warriors girls team swept the top three spots at the St. Cloud quadrangular at Powder Ridge on Tuesday.

The Warriors won with a team score of 71.

“Mara is a captain and works as hard as anyone,” said Warriors head coach Jim Ruttger. “She was first after the first run and kept it together for the second run.

“It was great to sweep the top three spots with Mara, Alex, and Ashley.”

Thor Linnerooth was runner-up for the Warrior boys with a 46.75 as they took second behind St. Cloud with 59 points.

Boys team scores: 1-St. Cloud 82, 2-Brainerd 59, 3-Annandale 51, 4-Mound-West Tonka 47

Individual winner: 1-Mike Hilbert (SC) 46.64

Brainerd results: 2-Thor Linnerooth 46.75, 13-Gabriel Gibson 73.91, 8-Ben Thoele 59.29, 14-Garett Lee 82.28, 19-Taylor Finger 1:26.54.

Girls team scores: 1-Brainerd 71, 2-St. Cloud 56, 3-Mound-West Tonka 34, 4-Annandale 11

Individual winner: 1-Mara Williams 54.36

Brainerd results: 2-Alex Stone 56.35, 3-Ashley Fitterer 61.51, 7-Hannah Moen 68.98, 12-Emily Aga 72.29. Next: Brainerd in Moose Mountain Invite at Lutsen 10 a.m. Thursday.
