Warrior Boys Hockey: Spuds defeat Warriors 4-1 in section matchup

MOORHEAD — Cole Smith scored the only goal for the Brainerd Warriors as they lost to the Moorhead Spuds 4-1 in Tuesday’s Section 8-2A matchup.

Brainerd was 5-1 in section play before the night.

The Warriors outshot the Spuds 35-21 but couldn’t improve their section record as they were unable to put the puck in the net after the first period.

The loss drops Brainerd to 11-3 overall.

The Warriors will have a Chuck A Puck fund-raiser for Thursday’s home game against Sauk Rapids with all proceeds going to the Jack Jablonski fund. Jablonski, of Benilde St. Margaret’s, was paralyzed in a recent game on a check from behind.
