Warrior Girls Hockey: I-Falls bucks Flying Warriors 5-2

INTERNATIONAL FALLS — Zoe Wolhart scored her 13th goal of the season and Kayla Strickland landed her first varsity goal from the blue line during the Brainerd/Little Falls Flying Warriors 5-2 loss to the International Falls Broncos Saturday.

Wolhart sits at 16 points for the season.

“Our intention was to play three lines of forwards and five defensemen, but at game time we were down to eight forwards and only four defensemen,” said Warriors head coach Stephanie Sustercich. “The team pulled together tightly and even with Taylor Caldwell (junior varsity player) giving us one period it wasn’t enough to help.”

Jodi Bertrand and Natalie Berens shared goalie duties for the Flying Warriors, which dropped to 3-15 overall.

Brainerd/Little Falls, which has lost eight of its last nine games, will host Central Lakes Conference leading Sartell/Sauk Rapids 7 p.m. Tuesday.
