Alpine skiing: Brainerd girls teams in top four at Welch

WELCH ­— Both Brainerd Warrior girls teams finished in the top four in the respective divisions at the Welch Village Invite last Friday.

Out of 18 teams competing in the Girls Squad 1 race, Brainerd finished third with 309 points.

First place in Squad 1 girls was East Ridge with 349 points, followed by Rochester with 335.

Brainerd’s Squad 1 team included Mara Williams, ninth place, 1:14.25; Alex Stone, 25th, 1:20.34; Emily Aga, 27th, 1:21.21; and Ashley Fitterer, 34th, 1:24.77.

In the Girls Squad 2 event, East Ridge won with 360 points. Brainerd finished fourth with 330.

Brainerd’s Squad 2 consisted of Jaden Lindner, 11th place, 1:10.87; Hannah Moen, 12th, 1:11.95; Maddie Olson, 18th, 1:13.07; and Molly Aga, 33rd, 1:22.96.

In Boys Squad 1, out of 20 teams, LaCrosse Logan won with 374 points. Brainerd finished 14th with 214.

Brainerd’s Squad 1 team included Thor Linnerooth, 14th, 1:07.57; Taylor Finger, 50th, 1:18.82; Ben Thoele, 61st, 1:27.76; and Gabe Gibson, 65th, 1:40.46.

Out of 18 teams in boys Squad 2, Brainerd finished 13th with 196 points. First-place Eagan-Eastview scored 359.

Brainerd’s Squad 2 team consisted of Garret Lee, 35th, 1:13.35; Grant Madison, 55th, 1:30.66; Cal Johnson, 57th, 1:31.10; and Grant Anderson, 62nd, 1:46.64.

The Warriors ski in the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Invite 10 a.m. Thursday at Spirit Mountain in Duluth.
