DANCE: Brainerd at conference meet Saturday

Email

The Brainerd Warriors dance team will compete Saturday in the Central Lakes Conference Championships at Sauk Rapids High School.

“We are going in with a whole different feel as we cannot be considered for the championship due to our jazz disqualification earlier in the year,” Warriors coach Cindy Clough said. “It takes some of the pressure off, but of course we still put pressure on ourselves to try to win the jazz and kick portions of the final meet.

“Since individual A-Conference awards are based on placement we will have a limited amount of all-conference dancers this year, which is unfortunate. We are going to try to focus on our performance and doing our personal best as we move into sections a week later.”

Tickets for the meet go on sale at 1 p.m. and the kick competition begins at 2 p.m.

Teams competing, in order of performance, at the kick meet are Fergus Falls, Brainerd, Rocori, Apollo, St. Cloud Tech, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, Alexandria and Willmar.

The jazz competition begins at 3:20 p.m.
