FLOOR HOCKEY: Warriors win season opener, coach's debut

Austin Annable led the Brainerd Warriors with five goals and three assist as they defeated the Wayzata/Minnetonka Lakers 9-2 in their season opener Wednesday at Riverside Elementary.

The Warriors won in the debut of first-year head coach Todd Person.

“I feel good about winning (the first game of the year),” Person said. “I’m really pleased with how they played. Everything they’ve been learning in practice — passing, teamwork, movement — all came together tonight.”

Brennan Myers added three goals and three assists. Raymond Borg and Richard Volkmuth scored the other goals for the Warriors as they outshot the Lakers 31-5. BHS goalie Anna Wahl had 31 saves.
