PINE RIVER — Avery Jackson’s 17 points led the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines in Thursday’s 61-58 non-conference win over the Pine River-Backus Tigers.

W-DC’s Caitlin Volkmann added 15, all on three-pointers and Hope Theisen scored 14 and Emily Miron 10.

Tatum Sheley poured in 26 for the 10-6 Tigers and Brittany Kelley added 12.

LRCS wins pair

ANKENY, Iowa — Lake Region Christian beat Central Baptist 50-39 and Plaza Heights 34-22 on the first day of the Faith school tournament Thursday.

In the first game, Marlee Moore had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Hornets, who received 17 points from Bethany Cressman.

Moore added 11 rebounds and five blocks in the second game and Cressman contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds.
